Yesterday, I was searching the web to find a useful list of walking bloggers based in the UK and I couldn’t find much to help apart from a couple of decent walking magazines.
So in order to help anyone else who is interested in rambling or hill walking, I thought I would create my own list. So here are my top 15 walking and rambling blogs written in the UK.
I created this list by reading and reviewing each site and have used my own personal preference. I have found that most good walking blogs focus on useful advice and tips for where and when to go. I also noticed that many contain some amazing photography that makes you want to get up from your computer and set off there and then.

Chris, thanks for including me on your list. Though often my blog is about anything but walking! I kind of use walking as a peg to hang other things on, if that makes sense.
http://www.sussexrambler.blogspot.com contains pictures of walks and natural history, primarily from Sussex but also entries from Hong Kong, Sri Lanka, Italy and South Africa.

I was speaking to someone the other day who said they found this list and couldn’t believe it was on my blog. I think the stuff you guys do on your blogs is great. Message I started my website http://happyhiker.co.uk last year to see if I could improve on much of what is on offer in terms of describing walking routes and it seems to have been well received. Lots of tips too. Not sure if it counts as a “blog” as such though I have a blog page. Mainly it is a record of my walks but written in such a way that fellow walkers can easily follow the routes without getting bogged down in lots of historical/geographical/natural information or simply how the writer felt, what his dog was doing etc etc which I find clouds many walk descriptions. These descriptions might be interesting in the comfort of your home but out walking, directions are the main thing – at least that is my view. Also I have found many walk descriptions inaccurate or not giving enough information to find the route and I try to do better.

Hi Chirs. Here’s a new walking blog based in and around Herefordshire, the Black Mountains, the Brecon Beacons and South Wales called “Four poles and a bag of jelly babies” which can be found at: http://4poles.wordpress.com
There’s not a lot of dialogue about each of the walks but there are some really handy links to .KML, .MMO and .GPX files for most of the routes.
