SEO

  • I have noticed quite a number of corporate blogs recently that have been updated regularly but they don’t seem to be acting socially. It’s called social media for a reason because it is two way – so pushing corporate content in one direction is just one element of the process. I have been working in online PR for a number of years now and I have definitely noticed that a lot more marketers accept that blogging does have major SEO benefits. Halleluiah - our work is now done then and we can all relax. Hang on a minute… In this post I am not going to bang on about writing online content just for Google ...

  • So last week I attended a meeting down in Kent with a very senior SEO expert (who shall remain nameless) but who runs a large digital team. He called me and my colleagues in to discuss the possibility of helping them create some interesting and engaging online campaigns. I am always interested when I meet senior people from the SEO world as they often have a different take on things to us public relations types and I find it kind of refreshing to talk about the more geeky side of digital. I asked him how important he now felt social media was now on search. I told him that in the PR industry we have known for a long ...

  • In November a good friend of mine Charlotte Britton, conducted a survey with businesses in Yorkshire to find out how companies in the region were utilising social media marketing. One of the most interesting statistics I noticed was that 75% said social media had been responsible for creating positive PR about the company and 40% saying social media had helped mitigate PR problems. Those are quite bold statements but here are some of the other interesting headline statistics: 82% of respondents said they used LinkedIn to promote their business with 67% saying there key individuals were using LinkedIn to promote ...

  • I am always reading (or viewing infographics) on the latest statistics about Facebook’s mobile usage increasing, Bebo being on the decline and more recently MySpace teaming up with Facebook as it moves away from being a social network to being seen as an entertainment platform. However, the study that has stood out to me this week has one been undertaken by Seomoz which looked into why people start blogs and use social media. An article in emarketer states: Nearly 71% of respondents said they use social media as part of their SEO strategy. Improving visibility was the primary reason nearly a fifth ...

Client’s are constantly asking me about search engine optimisation and to help everyone I decided to put together this simple 10 golden rules of SEO. Keywords should be written naturally into the content of each individual page of the website in order to ensure the site is well optimised for search engines. Keywords in title tag (unique for each page, include keywords) - ...

  • This is an interview with me conducted by sales and motivational speaker and blogger Gavin Ingham, his original post is here. As a sales expert and someone interested in improving lives and businesses in general I strive to ensure that I am doing the best that I can to be at the cutting-edge of what is going on with new selling ideas and strategies. One area that I have some strong opinions about is social media and the uses and abuses of social media. I have shared some of these in previous blogs and will do in the future however for this post I sought out social media expert Chris Norton ...

  • This is the first guest post I have had on my blog and it’s from Nick Hill, a director at Binary Vision. I have known Nick for a while now and seen him speak several times, his knowledge and expertise in behaviour and interpersonal skills are extremely impressive and I thought it would be interesting to hear his take on client management in the PR industry. He works with quite a few marketing and public relations firms and the feedback I have heard from his clients has been astounding as he really knows his stuff. Nick uses the latest psychology tools to transform team members into high performers that in turn create more business. His programmes focus ...

Posted by on 28 November 2007

I was searching the Internet the other day, looking for some good quality guidance on how to link effectively, and I found these quick tips which I have found really useful. Building links is one of the most important if not THE most important Off-Page factor in Search Engine Optimisation. New people to Search Engine Marketing usually get this point but fail to grab the most important aspect of it being the fact that you do not want just any links linking to your site, it has to be a quality, well themed link. Some builders just build link based on PR, ...
