			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Hollywood actor <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christian_Bale">Christian Bale</a> used social media to its maximum potential yesterday, purely by accident, after losing his cool on the set of the new Terminator film. </p>
<p>I (along with millions of others) was shocked by the sheer anger in the man’s voice but also amused by the variety of accents he slides through during the 3.5 minute tirade.</p>
<p>The rant is in full below – nicely fused with scenes from <a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0144084/" target="_blank">American Psycho</a> in case you missed it.</p>
<div class="wlWriterEditableSmartContent" id="scid:5737277B-5D6D-4f48-ABFC-DD9C333F4C5D:56550802-7e8c-4490-85db-cfda76afd7c0" style="padding-right: 0px; display: inline; padding-left: 0px; float: none; padding-bottom: 0px; margin: 0px; padding-top: 0px">
<div id="3e452c7a-356b-4d93-b597-fa9f5d0e201d" style="margin: 0px; padding: 0px; display: inline;">
<div><a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qrvMTv_r8sA&amp;hl=en&amp;fs=1" target="_new"><img src="http://nortonsnotes.typepad.com/.a/6a00e54fa92ea688340105370b9536970b-pi" style="border-style: none" galleryimg="no" onload="var downlevelDiv = document.getElementById('3e452c7a-356b-4d93-b597-fa9f5d0e201d'); downlevelDiv.innerHTML = &quot;&lt;div&gt;&lt;object width=\&quot;349\&quot; height=\&quot;292\&quot;&gt;&lt;param name=\&quot;movie\&quot; value=\&quot;http://www.youtube.com/v/qrvMTv_r8sA&amp;hl=en&amp;fs=1&amp;hl=en\&quot;&gt;&lt;\/param&gt;&lt;embed src=\&quot;http://www.youtube.com/v/qrvMTv_r8sA&amp;hl=en&amp;fs=1&amp;hl=en\&quot; type=\&quot;application/x-shockwave-flash\&quot; width=\&quot;349\&quot; height=\&quot;292\&quot;&gt;&lt;\/embed&gt;&lt;\/object&gt;&lt;\/div&gt;&quot;;" alt=""></a></div>
</div>
</div>
<p>Following the now infamous rant, another talented individual decided (amusingly) to remix his rant to a dance track and this has now had more than 500,000 views on YouTube – see below.</p>
<div class="wlWriterEditableSmartContent" id="scid:5737277B-5D6D-4f48-ABFC-DD9C333F4C5D:d666d7f5-8528-486c-bdbe-9c7975366f18" style="padding-right: 0px; display: inline; padding-left: 0px; float: none; padding-bottom: 0px; margin: 0px; padding-top: 0px">
<div id="f7d62f50-bc7c-4f6c-abf2-29aad0c88344" style="margin: 0px; padding: 0px; display: inline;">
<div><a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YTihsJQHt48&amp;hl=en&amp;fs=1" target="_new"><img src="http://nortonsnotes.typepad.com/.a/6a00e54fa92ea6883401116845eff9970c-pi" style="border-style: none" galleryimg="no" onload="var downlevelDiv = document.getElementById('f7d62f50-bc7c-4f6c-abf2-29aad0c88344'); downlevelDiv.innerHTML = &quot;&lt;div&gt;&lt;object width=\&quot;355\&quot; height=\&quot;296\&quot;&gt;&lt;param name=\&quot;movie\&quot; value=\&quot;http://www.youtube.com/v/YTihsJQHt48&amp;hl=en&amp;fs=1&amp;hl=en\&quot;&gt;&lt;\/param&gt;&lt;embed src=\&quot;http://www.youtube.com/v/YTihsJQHt48&amp;hl=en&amp;fs=1&amp;hl=en\&quot; type=\&quot;application/x-shockwave-flash\&quot; width=\&quot;355\&quot; height=\&quot;296\&quot;&gt;&lt;\/embed&gt;&lt;\/object&gt;&lt;\/div&gt;&quot;;" alt=""></a></div>
</div>
</div>
<p>This just shows you that even the highest profile celebrities now need their reputations managing online. I don’t know what this will do for Bale’s career but it has certainly not helped him appeal to a wider audience.</p>
<p>It also shows that the best virals often come from truly shocking content.</p>
<div class="wlWriterEditableSmartContent" id="scid:0767317B-992E-4b12-91E0-4F059A8CECA8:cc7bdda9-3000-4d56-b18c-32187518b6a3" style="padding-right: 0px; display: inline; padding-left: 0px; float: none; padding-bottom: 0px; margin: 0px; padding-top: 0px">Technorati Tags: <a href="http://technorati.com/tags/Christian+Bale+rant" rel="tag">Christian Bale rant</a>,<a href="http://technorati.com/tags/Terminator" rel="tag">Terminator</a>,<a href="http://technorati.com/tags/Bale+Remix" rel="tag">Bale Remix</a>,<a href="http://technorati.com/tags/Celebrities+online." rel="tag">Celebrities online.</a></div>

<p>The clip is basically about Apple launching the Apple Wheel MacBook a brilliant invention that replaces the keyboard making emails take only 45 mins each. </p>
<p>My favourite comments from this video are:</p>
<p>“Everything is just a few hundred clicks away!”</p>
<p>“It remains to be seen if the wheel will catch on in the business world where people use computers for actual work and not just dicking around.”</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>I know what you&#8217;re thinking &#8211; why the title? Well, two reasons firstly because its tenuously linked to <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_Bond" target="_blank">James Bond</a> &#8211; I realise it&#8217;s really Austin Powers and <strong>extremely sad</strong> &#8211; and secondly because of the gadget which I had to write <a href="http://www.gadgetspy.co.uk/2008/02/21/radio-alarm-clock-with-hidden-camera" target="_blank"><img style="border-top-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px" height="204" alt="Clock_Radio_Camera_with_built_in_SD_recorder" src="http://www.chrisnorton.biz/WindowsLiveWriter/Clock_Radio_Camera_with_built_in_SD_recorder.jpg" width="201" align="right" border="0"></a>about as it made me both laugh and cry at the same time.</p>
<p>I will start with the gadget. If you take a look at the picture to the right it looks like a normal usual radio alarm clock right &#8211; Err WRONG.</p>
<p>This is a radio alarm clock with a difference. This one has a built in spy camera which films straight to an SD card. I can feel cheating lovers across the world squirming in the seats right now.<br /><a></a><br />As a <a href="http://www.gadgetspy.co.uk/2008/02/21/radio-alarm-clock-with-hidden-camera" target="_blank">post</a> from <a href="http://www.gadgetspy.co.uk/" target="_blank">Gadget Spy</a> describes: <em>&#8220;All the data is recorded into the SD card, which can afterwards be easily transferred to your computer. </em></p>
<p><em>In order to save memory space, the camera is activated by motion, which means that you’ll get to see all the “important” scenes pretty quickly. Priced at $500 in black and white, or $600 in colour &#8211; both models include a SD memory card with 512MB.&#8221;</em>
<p>I am sorry but who uses these things?&nbsp; So for £250 you can spy on your partner or whoever &#8211; Great!
<p>The second element of today&#8217;s post is to celebrate me actually being on the other end of some blogger relations. Yes, yours truly was contacted last night and asked if I would be interested in reviewing a <a href="http://www.007magazine.co.uk/battle_for_bond.htm" target="_blank">book</a> on James Bond. They read my blog and approached me personally and as I do love the 007 movies, I thought I would give it a plug so here goes.
<p>Basically the book is about the legal issues over who owned the rights to James Bond. There was a huge legal argument which stretched across a few years and what resulted was the movie <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thunderball_(film)" target="_blank">Thunderball</a> being made twice.
<p>The second version included a fat and slightly bald (as he hadn&#8217;t been bond for 12 years) Sean Connery and was called <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Never_Say_Never_Again" target="_blank">Never Say, Never Again</a> (entitled this way because Connery was heard to say he would never play Bond again and yet he did).
<p>In my opinion, that was easily the worst James Bond film ever made and it almost reduced Bond&#8217;s worth. I like Mr Connery, and he was brilliant as Bond, but unfortunately he just looked too old and overweight to return as 007.
<p>Thankfully, the other party who made Never Say Never Again &#8211; Never did again. If you fancy reading the book on how this all happened you can buy it from <a href="http://www.amazon.co.uk/Battle-Bond-Genesis-Cinemas-Greatest/dp/0953192636" target="_blank">here</a>.</p>

<p>The BBC <a href="http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/7250068.stm" target="_blank">article</a> reads:</p>
<p><em>&#8220;&#8221;There have been media reports that Toshiba will discontinue its HD DVD business,&#8221; a Toshiba spokesman said. </em></p>
<p><em>&#8220;In fact, Toshiba has not made any announcement or decision. We are currently assessing our business strategies, but nothing has been decided at the moment.&#8221; </em>
<p><em>Last month, Warner Brothers became the fifth Hollywood studio to throw its weight behind Sony&#8217;s Blu-ray format, leaving just Universal Pictures and Paramount Pictures favouring HD DVD. </em>
<p><em><img height="1" alt="" hspace="0" src="http://newsimg.bbc.co.uk/shared/img/o.gif" width="5" border="0"></em>
<p><a href="http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/6558807.stm"><b><em></em></b></a></p>
<p><em>Analysts had seen this decision to switch allegiances as a tipping point. </em>
<p><em>Video rental firms, including <a title="Blockbuster" href="www.blockbuster.co.uk" target="_blank">Blockbuster</a> and <a title="Netfix" href="http://www.netflix.com" target="_blank">Netflix,</a> have said they will phase out the Toshiba-backed format. </em>
<p><em>And last week, <a title="Wal-Mart" href="www.walmart.com" target="_blank">Wal-Mart</a>, the world&#8217;s largest retailer, announced it would only sell high-definition DVDs in the Blu-ray format at its 4,000 US stores.</em> &#8221;
<p>It&#8217;s actually quite surprising that upon this rumour coming out Toshiba share price actually went up.</p>
<p>All I can say is I am sorry for everyone who bought one. However, personally I am glad I backed Sony as once again it seems the <a title="Playstation" href="http://uk.playstation.com" target="_blank">Playstation</a> has come to its rescue. Now at least everyone who has bought a high definition player knows where they stand.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><a href="http://newsticker.welt.de/index.php?channel=fin&amp;module=smarthouse&amp;id=674511" target="_blank"><img style="border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-bottom: 0px" height="211" alt="dominate" src="http://www.chrisnorton.biz/WindowsLiveWriter/dominate.jpg" width="264" align="left" border="0"></a> A while ago I wrote on my <a title="My other post" href="http://www.chrisnorton.biz/2008/01/blu-ray-starts.html" target="_blank">blog</a> that I felt Sony had got it right with <a title="Blu Ray" href="http://www.blu-ray.com/" target="_blank">Blu-Ray</a> and they would win the battle of the two high definition DVD formats.&nbsp; </p>
<p>Well as the battle has hotted up, it now appears that Blu-Ray really is beginning to dominate. According to <a title="BBC Article" href="http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/7240434.stm" target="_blank">reports</a> Best Buy, which is the largest consumer electronics chain in the US, has stated it will not recommend HD DVD to its customers. It will still stock the HD DVD format but it will be given much less prominence. </p>
<p><a title="Best Buy" href="www.bestbuy.com" target="_blank">Best Buy&#8217;s</a> president and chief operating officer Brian Dunn said: &#8220;Best Buy has always believed that the customer will benefit from a widely accepted single format that would offer advantages such as product compatibility and expanded content choices. </p>
<p>&#8220;Because we believe that Blu-ray is fast emerging as that single format, we have decided to focus on Blu-ray products.&#8221;
<p>Worse still the largest DVD rental company in the US, <a title="Netflix site" href="www.netflix.com" target="_blank">Netflix</a>, has announced it is to phase them out too. </p>
<p>I think we can safely say this is the beginning of the end for the HD DVD format. Personally, I feel sorry for consumers who have forked out their hard earned money on HD DVD players. I really hope we don&#8217;t see it being completely wiped out as then they really will have been a waste of money.</p>
<p>The two formats (and companies) should have buried their differences and agreed to make players that used both formats from the outset. Then everyone could have profited and us (the consumers) wouldn&#8217;t have been out&nbsp; of pocket and wondering what the hell we could do with them once they stop making the discs.</p>
<p>I suppose if you piled 10 on top of each other they could make a useful coffee table &#8211; any other suggestions welcome&#8230;..</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><a href="http://www.cloverfieldmovie.com/"><img height="240" alt="godzillaLove" src="http://www.chrisnorton.biz/WindowsLiveWriter/godzillaLove.jpg" width="218" align="left"></a>Well after hearing a rave review from <a href="http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/chrismoyles/" target="_blank">Chris Moyles</a> and comedy Dave on&nbsp; <a href="http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/" target="_blank">Radio 1</a> last week, I&nbsp; decided to buy myself two tickets and venture out into the cold February night with my wife to watch the new <a href="http://www.cloverfieldmovie.com/" target="_blank">Cloverfield</a> movie &#8211; which started on Friday.</p>
<p>You can watch the trailer first by clicking <a href="http://www.cloverfieldmovie.com/">here</a>.</p>
<p>I was pretty excited as I like a good blockbuster disaster movie but I didn&#8217;t know anything about the plot or how the disaster materialised.</p>
<p>If you are going to watch it and don&#8217;t want to know the plot line I would stop reading now.</p>
<p>Right, well the plot is a mixture between <a href="en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Godzilla " target="_blank">Godzilla</a> Vs <a href="www.blairwitch.com" target="_blank">Blair Witch</a>.</p>
<p>The film is being recorded by a young man at a leaving party on a camcorder. I actually thought the idea of a blockbuster movie filmed by a number of amateurs could work pretty well, and it did to a certain extent, but I found myself feeling quite ill as they went well overboard with shaking the camera and filming the floor, upside down etc.</p>
<p>The action scenes are actually pretty lively and the noise is fairly intense too. However, my wife wanted to walk out after 20mins but I didn&#8217;t think it was that bad. Although there are a few interesting questions the movie asked for instance: </p>
<ol>
<li>Why did this particular group of Americans go to the roof of a sky scraper during an earthquake?
<li>How come when their helicopter crashes all three of them survive but everyone else dies &#8211; bizarre?
<li>How come the end of the world always happens in New York and never any other city or country?
<li>Thirdly and even more bizarrely &#8211; how does someone who has had a metal girder protruding from their shoulder/lung area for well over four hours, not manage to bleed to death either before or after she is wrenched off it. 3a) and she can even pull off a Linford Christie type sprint when she is being chased. </li>
</ol>
<p>All in all I thought it was a pretty entertaining watch and a good concept which unfortunately could have been executed a little more professionally, so everyone didn&#8217;t feel sick at the end from the shaking camera scenes.</p>
<p>Score out of ten from me: 6.5</p>
<p>Score from Lisa: -10 (She would rather watch <a href="www.supernanny.co.uk" target="_blank">Super Nanny</a>)</p>

<p>Bond fans are getting the chance to become part of <a title="Wikipedia - James Bond" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_Bond" target="_blank">007</a> history by getting the opportunity to write the music to the new B<a href="http://www.chrisnorton.biz/WindowsLiveWriter/bond1sea.jpg"><img style="border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-bottom: 0px" height="160" alt="bond1sea" src="http://www.chrisnorton.biz/WindowsLiveWriter/bond1sea_thumb.jpg" width="240" align="left" border="0"></a>ond movie. Unfortunately, I think my musical talent doesn&#8217;t stretch this far but I am sure there will be a lot of people out there who would be interested. I am a huge bond fan and would love to be associated with anything bond related.
<p><a href="http://www.penguin.co.uk/index.html" target="_blank">Penguin</a> announced its search for the theme tune to Devil May Care, the eagerly awaited new Bond novel, written by Sebastian Faulks.
<p>Visitors to <a title="Myspace page" href="http://www.myspace.com/devilmaycarebook" target="_blank">uk.myspace.com/devilmaycarebook</a> all have the chance to create an original piece of music for the new book which is published on May 28, the centenary of Bond creator Ian Fleming&#8217;s birth.
<p>The winning track will become the book&#8217;s official theme tune and will be featured on the Devil May Care audio book, published on the same day. This will be the first theme tune to accompany a James Bond book.
<p>A shortlist of five entries will be selected by a high profile judging panel, including Sebastian Faulks, music producer Jazzie B and Matthew Fleming, great nephew of original Bond author Ian Fleming.
<p>The competition is open to all musicians &#8211; both amateur and established artists &#8211; with the deadline for entries on February 25. </p>
