Marketing Magazine has reported that Universal Music has signed a global deal with Web 2.0 service Kyte to develop branded online and mobile sites for its major artists. Universal which has artists like Amy Winehouse, Just Jack and Girls aloud is going to be using the platform to develop interactive entertainment applications to engage better with music fans and to hopefully generate funds from its video content. The artists will be able to use Kyte's mobile production tools to broadcast live gigs and create on-demand videos, giving their fans special and personal clips. For a quick demo of how ...

Viral videos have got to have something intrinsically clever, entertaining or interesting to make them go viral in the first place. Following in a similar vain to the recent US election viral that I shared, here is another really clever example which focuses on Disney renaming its park for one special day. Stephen Waddington has posted a brilliant viral video on his blog this morning which I thought had to be shared as it made me laugh. A viral agency called Rubber Republic has made the video below demonstrating the South West’s capabilities in being creative. I think it’s a really clever idea which has been brilliantly executed. See what you think. ...

I was just finishing this post when I noticed my colleague Stuart had beaten me to the chase but I think this video is that good it's worth both of us posting about it. This is a great example of a campaign viral video - in our opinion the best yet. The US elections always seem to uncover brilliant new methods of marketing and this certainly follows in that mould. ...

It seems Guinness' marketing team isn't too happy about a spoof viral video which has appeared on YouTube. The video, which has received more than (29,000) views, at the time of writing, seems to suggest share a drink whilst being involved in extra curricular (group sex) activities. Now I have checked this out (to see what all the fuss is about) and the one thing that comes across to me is this lady is very good at balancing inanimate objects - Joke. Seriously though, this seems to be a joke viral video which is being shared because - as with most viral videos which get picked up - it's mildly amusing but the people ...

Rufus Jay has written an article in this week's Marketing Week that has raised some questions as to whether social networks will ever raise any real money. He points out that although YouTube is huge in popularity and quickly becoming synonymous with user generated films, it's still not really making much profit and this could soon mean we see a new dot.com crash. Google, paid a whopping £853m to buy YouTube back in October 2006 but it's only expecting to make £100m from advertising this year. Other sites have also reported ...

I have read an interesting post earlier this week about Dave Fleet, a public relations professional based in Toronto, who was recently targeted by Molson a beer company who were looking to hold an event with free beer readily available. Dave says the reason why Molson approached him was as they put it "to get to know folks in this space". I actually think that's very honest as there are a lot of companies and brands who don't know anyone in the social media world and honesty is always the best policy. ...

Our sister agency Raw Creative is looking for a fresh faced and talented designer to join their team and help their small agency grow even further. They are looking for enthusiasm, so they want somebody who jumps out of bed on a morning and makes a good cup of tea - only kidding. This person will work alongside the senior designer and on their own, so the ability to see a project through from concept to artwork would be ideal. The candidate will need a degree or equivalent in graphic design, and experience using Quark Xpress, Illustrator and ...

I know I haven't posted in a while, this is because I managed to take my family away on a holiday to Tenerife. I got back at 4am on Wednesday morning and got back to work on Thursday morning albeit very tired. All I can say is I was extremely busy almost immediately catching up and then heading straight down to London to attend Don't Panic's Guide to Social Media on Friday and then a new business meeting on Friday afternoon. I attended the conference with my colleague Stuart Bruce and it proved to be very interesting ...

Ever wondered who is saying what and how often on Facebook? No, well neither have I really, but Facebook has launched a new service which now shows you anyway. Lexicon is described as a tool to follow 'language trends across Facebook'. It looks at the usage of words and phrases on profiles, groups and event walls. For example, you can enter "blog, PR" to compare the usage of these two words on its walls. Like I have done on the right here for an example. Users can enter up to five terms with each being a word ...
