  • MySpace continues down its own road of total music dominance, by launching an online music video channel that is to combine live gig footage with interviews and profiles to help promote new and up and coming bands. The channel has bizarrely been called Earwig TV - make your own decisions here.  Anyway, it is apparently going to aggregate content from across the whole of the site to help bands and artists reach out to new fans and hopefully in-turn attract some much needed attention from record labels. ...

  • At Wolfstar we are always looking out for interesting stories which get us all talking, and we often like to cherry pick the best and closely examine them to see what is good and what is bad. Yesterday, we saw a great story about the disco, funk and pop band Jamiroquai, who have launched a new social media website. Seb and I both love the disco funksters, so we found this very intriguing and had to check the site out ourselves. The band, who have always been known for being forward thinking in their music and marketing, already ...

  • In the news today, it seems a survey has found that customer service levels from broadband suppliers are getting worse with customers spending an average 17minutes on the phone. I have to say I didn't need a new story or survey to tell me that. I recently left BT, after being tied into an expensive 18-month contract. My service went down on several occasions and when it did, I spent more than 25 minutes listening to a recorded message telling me that my call was important to them but I would have to wait. Once I actually got through to ...

  • OK I don't normally bang on about dance music on my blog but I have to tell you about this album as its the best dance live recording I have heard in years - maybe ever. If you are partial to a bit of the half robot, half human duo doing their stuff, then you are going to love this work of art as it's a real crowd pleaser. The duo have managed to record a live album which fuses electronic funky baselines, loops and samples with some of their biggest and boldest tracks. This is the same set they played ...

  • Technorati Tags:   It was announced yesterday that PDF files are to have advertisements within them, following a new deal between Yahoo and Adobe. Click here to view the article. I find unnecessary advertising in places where it isn't relevant a bit annoying. Being an early adopter of the Internet, I remember the days of several search engines struggling for superiority, before Google started to dominate the marketplace. I think there were two main reasons for this, one Google was quick ...

    Blogging Geek or Unique????

Posted by on 29 November 2007

To many people the world of social media and blogging is still, suprisingly,  very  confusing and to some it’s even scary. I am often being challenged by well educated colleagues, business people and friends who ask me “Who reads these blogs? Do they work? Are they really important channels of communication? To which I have to say yes, yes and yes. How clear can I be about this without saying blogging is now as important as advertising, marketing and PR. People are still intrigued to know, how they work and who reads them, but let’s be honest the ...

  •   Apparently the Government is to meet with Broadband providers soon to discuss increasing the speed of broadband connections in the UK to 100mbps - click here to read the article. A huge percentage of us are still getting our service through the original copper wires laid by BT which were never set-up for quick connections, so we may see new cables being fitted and our service improving. I admit this does all sound fantastic but I have found my broadband connection at home - although the advertising states speeds of up to 8Mbps – actually only runs at around ...

  • Hi and welcome to my first ever personal blog post, I have decided to start writing this to release my demons and tell the world how I feel about certain things and subjects. I work in the crazy world of public relations and I have always been the man behind the client, company, microphone and camera but I now I suppose it’s time to pull myself out of the darkness, smile and enter the blogosphere officially. I have to admit, it feels kind of strange putting your thoughts onto a screen knowing that ...
